Meet the Founder
My name is Margaret Ochieng. I’m an organisational psychologist with a passion for
helping people and systems get gloriously unstuck. That passion doesn’t just come from
years of academic and professional experience; it’s rooted in my origin story: a village girl
from what many might call “the middle of nowhere”, who dared to believe her
voice belonged on a global platform and spent much of her life navigating obstacles to get
there.
Today, I bring these lived experiences into my work at the intersection of leadership, anti-
racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion. I make sure bold thinking is grounded in behavioural
science evidence and a strengths-based approach. I ensure that what’s on paper is
grounded in soul-searching, and the full diversity of the human experience.
Organisations seek me out when they want more than buzzwords and ‘DEI snake oils’—
when they want real transformation, backed by research, deep insight, and genuine
human connection. Whether I’m consulting, speaking, facilitating, or designing learning
experiences, I bring clarity, compassion, and just the right amount of challenge to spark
meaningful change.
Clients describe me as #inspiring, #transformational, and #thought-provoking. I have even been called a “luminous human being” — and I humbly accept that glow. But if you
ask me, I’d simply say:
“I’ve come to deeply value the concept of work, not just as the tasks we do, but the
systems, structures, and environments that make work meaningful. I want everyone to
feel a sense of purpose in what they do, to belong, thrive and grow in the places they work,
and to feel connected to the people and purpose around their work.”
Beyond my consulting work, I’m a visiting lecturer and PhD researcher at Birkbeck,
University of London. I assess talent in the public sector, speak at national and global
forums, and sit on several boards, including the Advisory Board for Lloyds Banking Group
and the Surrey Business Leaders Forum. I am a member of the British Psychological
Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Why & how it started
The Inclusive Village started in 2019 with a simple idea: In an increasingly volatile, uncertain and politically charged world, how can we rally people and organisations around a grounding common purpose to drive organisational success? How can we do so while still enabling and valuing individuality, humanity and diversity of every individual? The idea is to organise your organisation like a Village, not a tribe, not a collective of clans, or silos, a Village.
How we've evolved
From our humble beginnings with one client who wanted to test the Village idea as a model for igniting leadership, diversity in hiring practices, and an inclusive culture. We’ve developed intuitive diagnostics that get to the heart of your village quickly, to unleash your strengths and potential for higher performance whether you are an individual, organisation or community. We have left a trail of transformation among our diverse and growing client base here in the UK, Europe, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and going global.
